Here are some rules in the men’s lacrosse game:

1. Each team has ten players on the field

Three attack-men, three midfielders, three defensemen, and one goalkeeper.

2. The game begins with a face-off at the center of the field.

The ball is placed between two players who attempt to gain possession by controlling the ball with their sticks.

3. The point is scoring goals

The object of the game is to score goals by shooting the ball into the opposing team’s goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins.

4. Players may use their sticks to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball.

Players are allowed to hit each other with their sticks as long as it’s within the bounds of the game and not considered unsportsmanlike conduct.

5. Physical contact or body checking between players is allowed within certain limits.

Body checking must be done within the appropriate areas of the field and not from behind. Players may use their body to check an opposing player, but must avoid hitting them from behind or above the shoulders.

6. You can grab your opponent’s sticks 

Players are allowed to grab their opponents’ sticks to take possession of the ball, but they cannot use excessive force or roughness.

7. Faceoff players are allowed to use their sticks to fight for possession of the ball.

Faceoff players often engage in a physical battle to gain control. In other words, possession of the ball changes hands if a team commits a violation or turnover. Violations include stepping out of bounds, holding the ball for too long, or committing a foul.

8. Goalies are a no-no!

Goalies are not allowed to advance past the midfield line, but they are allowed to use their sticks to make saves and protect the net.

9. Two time-outs for each team

Each team is allowed two time-outs per half, and games typically consist of four 15-minute quarters.

10. You can be penalized for playing foul no matter how little 

Players may be penalized for committing a foul, such as slashing, tripping, or cross-checking. Penalties can range from one to three minutes in the penalty box.

11. The game needs a winner to end

If the game is tied at the end of regulation time, overtime periods are played until a winner is determined.
